Issey Miyake: From tragedy to fragrance powerhouse.
Born in 1938, Issey Miyake witnessed the horrific Hiroshima bombing which devastated his home town and left him grieving for the family members he lost. As a young boy, Issey was inspired by fashion after reading his sister’s copy of vogue which later inspired him to pursue a career in the industry.
Issey Miyake’s passion and perseverance paid off, after working in several fashion houses he eventually set up his own design studio which opened in New York in 1971. His vision for fashion eventually led him to create some of our most popular fragrances here at Scentstore. Pioneering the way for fresh aquatic scents, Issey released his first fragrance, L’eau d’Issey in 1992 which still remains a fan favourite.
Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Eau de Toilette
First released in 1992 L’Eau d’Issey continues to be a popular fragrance with the ladies today. At the time it was a groundbreaking fragrance as its light and delicate scent helped to popularise oceanic fragrances. The inspiration for the name comes from the Frech word Eau which means water a nod to its fresh smell and the bottle was inspired by a view of the moon behind the Eiffel Tower.

Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Eau de Toilette
Released 2 years later was the first Issey Miyake men’s fragrance which once again was a huge hit and continues to be one of our customer’s favourites. Featuring notes of Sparkling Yuzu alongside zesty lemon, Tart Lime, Soft Sandalwood, Earthy Vetiver and Warm Amber accord L’eau d’Issey is one of the first fragrances I recommend to men searching for a fresh scent.

Issey Miyake A Drop d’Issey Eau de Parfum Fraiche
2022 saw the launch of three new Issey Miyake, the first of which was A Drop d’Issey Eau de Parfum Fraiche. Whilst the previous A Drop d’Issey was a beautiful powdery clean floral, the new fragrance is more of a floral aquatic scent. In the top of this fragrance is an aquatic rain accord which is inspired by the journey of a raindrop during spring whilst at the heart is a Powdery Lilac & Feminine Rose blend. At the base is Soft Sandalwood, Aromatic Cedarwood & Earthy Musk giving the fragrance a lovely dry down.

Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Eau & Cedre Eau de Toilette Intense
Citrus notes took the spotlight in the original L’eau d’Issey Pour Homme however, in L’eau d’Issey Pour Homme Eau & Cedre we see the same freshness but this time with a warmer woody element. This vegan formula has a top note of Aromatic Cardamom, a heart of Woody Cedar and at the base Clean Vetiver & Earthy Patchouli. Overall this fragrance is masculine yet fresh and is sure to be a favourite amongst our customers when they try it for themselves.

Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Eau & Magnolia Eau de Toilette Intense
Adding to their beautiful range of fresh florals, Issey Miyake released L’Eau d’Issey Eau & Magnolia Eau de Toilette Intense. In the same iconic bottle except for this time with a wooden cap and vegan formula this beautiful fragrance is a velvety floral with the same aquatic twist that helped inspire the original. Opening this fragrance is Zesty Bergamot which creates a lovely freshness when blended with the heart of Lush Magnolia & Fresh Aquatic Notes. At the base of this fragrance is a Delicate Soft Sandalwood which blends well with the feminine heart and creates a soft finish.
